Welcome to Girl Gone Smart!

After a tumultuous couple of years, I'm so happy to be back into the blog world, especially for book reviews. I have missed it very much, and I hope you've missed it too. After departing ways with the Albany Times Union over a nasty disagreement, I'm thrilled to launch my own site and blog to continue doing what I love and giving space to young women who have a voice but are rarely heard.

This space isn't just for me. It's for you, too. It's for young girls and women who need a space to speak their peace, share a book they love, or talk about social issues that are important to them. I hope you will welcome new and young bloggers as well as you have welcomed me in the last three (or so) years.

I'm just getting this going, so please have patience as I load up old content as well as share new books, adventures, or issues.

Unfortunately I cannot turn off the required member registration if you wish to comment on the blog posts directly. It's a feature of the software application used to build this site but they are working to adjust this at the request of several users. In the meantime, please comment when I share to the Girl Gone Smart Facebook page, or if you do choose to register, there will be special giveaways and contests just for you.

As always, a share, a like, or a follow is much appreciated. In return I will tell you about fantastic books of all genres, amazing people I've met or places I've been, and I will do lots of book giveaways! Around the holidays I may fundraise or ask for book donations to facilities in Albany that are underfunded or serve the Albany community's children in some manner.

I look forward to starting this journey more than I could ever express with words.
